Bloodshed in Nasarawa State in reprisal attack following the slaughter of cattles(photo)

- Hoodlums have invaded Kardarko community in Nasarawa, in a retaliatory attack, killing seven people and injuring others

- The reprisal attack comes barely two days after 73 cows were slaughtered by cattle rustlers

- The state governor has paid a visit to the affected area to commiserate with the victims and assure residents that mobile policemen would be dispatched immediately

Seven persons were reportedly killed in Kadarko community of Keana local government area, Nasarawa state on Tuesday, January 30.

According to Channels TV, the attack is believed to have been carried out in retaliation for the slaughter of 73 cows by cattle rustlers on Sunday, January 28.

News Arena gathers that two people were also injured in the reprisal attack which began as early as 1a.m. when the community was invaded by the suspects who then proceeded to unleash mayhem.

The governor of the state, Tanko Al-Makura, has paid a visit to the area. He assured residents that justice would be served and commiserated with the victims of the attack. He also disclosed that the mobile police unit would be deployed to restore calm to the area.

However, the governor’s entreaties were met with anger from the residents who called for the army to be deployed instead.

Residents of the area have reportedly fled their homes following the attack.

Recall that it was previously reported that about hundred gunmen suspected to be members of the Tiv militia from Benue state allegedly attacked Kadarko community in Keana local government area of Nasarawa in the early hours of Sunday, January 28, killing seventy-three cows.

The chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Nasarawa chapter, Muhammed Hussaini, said that the gunmen attacked the village, which is located between Benue and Nasarawa, shooting sporadically.
